Laser Engraving FAQ

Here are some answers to common laser engraving FAQ we get from customers. We hope this helps you out as you plan your project.

Chesapeake Engraving FAQ

➀ What does it cost?

The cost of your project will range depending on several factors. Simple text engraving starts at $35. If you are looking for multiple locations of text, or images the price will go up from there. Images and logos will vary in price depending on condition and format you provide us. Also, we also have an extensive image library available to our customers. There is also a discount available for bulk orders.

➁ What is your turnaround time?

Turnaround time is usually 1-3 business days. If your project requires artwork this will add time to complete. Also, if your job is large volume, 100 or more items we ask you allow 5-7 business days for completion. Depending on our workload, rush jobs are also possible for an extra fee.

➂ What size and format should my artwork be in?

A vector format such as EPS is best. If you do not have vector artwork, our graphic design team can vectorize your images or re-create the artwork for an additional fee starting at $50 (the vectorized artwork is yours to keep).

For photographs, a resolution of 300 DPI or higher is preferred for best results.

➃ Can you etch metals?

Absolutely! We can etch and engrave most metals, including engraving serial numbers into firearms to meet the ATF requirement depth of 0.003″.

We also laser through the coated metals as well on firearms, knives, tumblers (anodizing, cerakote, powdercoat, etc).

Our fiber laser can create surface-only smooth permanent marks using an annealing process. This is an excellent choice for stainless steel items, jewelry, knives, tools, titanium and medical instruments.

We love to work with jewelry such as gold, silver, titanium, brass, watches, keychains and much more! See some samples of our work here
